Our Instructors

Sensei David Reason

David first became involved with Karate when his brother, Ian dragged him along to his first session in 1991.  He quickly became hooked and was soon training three times a week.  On his second attempt he passed his Black Belt grading (Shodan) and progressed through to his 3rd Dan (Sandan) in 2021, which he describes the hardest test he has faced.

For many years he used his knowledge in the security world, and was an institution at The Chapel Nightclub (he is now retired).

David now works in the motor trade.  He is married with 2 adult children, has a couple of cats and is a keen gardener.

Sensei Sarah Thomson

Sarah has been involved in Karate since 1990, progressing through to 2nd Kyu Brown/White Belt.  She then had a break from Karate, returning to training in 2018 and achieved her Black belt in 2021.

Sarah has many interests including crafting and burlesque and loves her two dogs.  She is recently married and manages to squeeze in her work as a Care Home Activity Coordinator.

Sensei Mark Atkinson

Mark dabbled with kick boxing when he was young, he first started Karate in East London in 1995 until he moved away to Hampshire.  After a long break he returned to Karate training with his son who was 12.  They progressed through the grades together right through to Purple Belt.   Other commitments meant his son stopped training so hard, although Mark continued, successfully passing his 1st Dan in 2022 at his first attempt.

Mark is an accountant and works on grants for the Department of Health.  He is married with one son and has a gorgeous dog and is a keen boater and musician.
